William S. Davis

William S. Davis (1843-45, 47-49, 51-53), son of William and Rachel (Robinson) Davis, was born in Chester township, in 1803. He was a very successful farmer and a man of influence in the county. In 1855, he sold the farm he inherited from his father for $200 an acre, a record price at that time, and removed to Christiana, Lancaster county, where he purchased a plantation. He died there in 1887, aged 84 years.
