Another picture of the Lake in 1917

 The acre-and-a-half lake was drained in the late 1950's due to safety and environmental concerns.  This springtime picture, taken by Joe Strickland and provided compliments of Francis Davis, shows the former lake, home to ducks, geese and water lilies, surrounded by dogwoods in bloom.
