The LV(Lamokin Village), where I grew up is gone, McCaf (McCafferty Villiage is a thing of the past, and the Highland Gardens is in the process of being demolished. Change is inevitable, but I hope as Chester changes, it's people will change too, in order to bring about a better community, a better city, and a better tomorrow!!

MessageI retired from Army Special Ops in 95 with 25 years active service. Really enjoyed the Fun Travel Adventure! I did however return to the work force in the civilian world.
Had a blast at the 40th year reunion. Got to see some great friends from the High. It's hard to believe it has been that long. Lost friends and family members as recent as Aug 2007. Makes you wonder, where did all the years go?

Left my construction job Carpenter's Local 626 & electrical #1238 after 29 and 11 yrs. ea. to do fulltime ministry. It has been a challenge but also a blessing. This year I spent New year's w/12 youth & young adults in South Africa. I was 1 of 3 skilled laborer's that went w/ 24 from Jane's UM church to Mississippi to do Katrina rehab. Did a week of Theatre, art, video camp w/19 teens(they wrote the story, acted, filmed, edited and made the dvd. Took my teens to Greensboro, NC to meet up w/10,000 other youth. Took 16 teens to DC a couple of weeks ago for a Non-violence seminar. At last I think I've found what God's plan was for my life. I'm exhausted but loving every minute. Facilitated 3 day Healing Wounds of Racism workshop (I do 4-6 of these a year as Dir. of Human Relations and Leadership for the Eastern Pa. Conference of the United Methodist Church)last week in Daylesford Abbey (It is a Catholic center and I'm an Afrimerican female on the board, guess things really do change)and Vacation Bible School this week at my church Grace Community UMC in chester. Life is good, the youth said this morning I can't be old, when I asked what that meant, they said 55+. Took the grandsons fishing yesterday. Your body works better it you keep it busy. God really is good.!!!

About a month ago I had the nerve to enter a 'Senior Idol' Contest, (a spoof of tv's American Idol). Philly's Fox 29 news covered the event which was held at Community Hospital, (formerly Sacred Heart), in Chester. I performed a 'rap' I'd written. It was positive message from a parent to a kid. It was my 4 minutes of fame, and it was fun. I let it be known raps can be positive messages, and aren't just for young people. I'm sharing all this because I can't believe we're all approaching the BIG 6-0. I don't know how many of you have retired, but I'm still working....full time! I've got two younger sisters who've retired, but I'm not ready yet. I'm having too much fun. I thank God, I feel so great, physically, mentally, emotionally, but most of all spiritually. I'm productive, and I thank God for the talent He's allowed to come from me at my age. I'm writing songs, poetry, 'raps', short stories, jingles and I've even come up with some terrific ideas for products to make life easier for consumers. I'm thinking patents! I'm drawing also. I'm considering art classes to sharpen my skills. With my music there'll be demo tapes, and copyrighting. Busy, busy! Right now I'm working on a comic strip. I'm thinking syndication. Oh, yeah!! I just wish I'd known about all this creativity I'm spouting out now, when I was young. I've been told the talent was always there. It's just when you're young, and caught up in being 'young', you're busy doing your 'own thang'. You don't have time to get to know the real you. You don't realize the greatness buried deep down inside. That's the way it is for many of our young people today. They're so gifted and talented. We, the older generation need to help them see and realize their gifts and potential. Those of us who've 'been there-done that' need to tell them. The thing is, will they listen? Did we?

Sorry to hear about Arthur. One of the real characters of my youth. Always friendly and good for a grin. Sunday pickup football games next to the Armory on 24th Street. He was always there. Built slight, but big heart and tough. He showed up were alot of other so-called jocks were leary to play. Too rough, I guess, but not for Art. He was one of us and I'll always remember him with a smile.

Something tells me I'm gettin' old! Recently had to contact CHS for verification of graduation for a
job (1st time I ever needed proof). Seems they have no record of me attending 2nd semester of 12th grade. Had to take summer school to make up for Miss Massino's "F" in Spanish III. Did so and passed but alas there's no way to prove it. Good grief, now I guess I have to go GED! It's all Massino's fault, ha. Just moved out of Delco on 1-17-04. Just wanted to thank all those responsible for putting on our 35th reunion. I think
everyone had a great time Only wish everyone could have been there. aybe next time.But
