I don't know if you are aware that Jeffris Elementary school has been converted into apartments and townhomes. It's amazing how they used the same building that was our elementary school and now the same building are used as apartments and town homes. There are a bunch of properties in Chester that will be auctioned in Media at the courthouse on April 19, 2006. One of my colleagues in the ministry sent me an e-mail with all of the properties listed and there are over fifty properties that will be auctioned because of tax liens. Although we didn�t have a direct conversation, as I was speaking with someone else, she did excuse herself to mention to me that the reunion was going to be held November 26th at the Holiday Inn located in Essington, PA. Now I�m unable to give you a time, ticket price, ticket purchase locations, menu options, etc. as I did not ask those questions. However, I would suggest that you mark your calendars for that date. Although I was happy to hear something about a reunion, I did find the method of communicating such a monumental event somewhat disturbing. Anywho, this leads me to believe that there is a reunion committee of sorts in existence. Who these people are and when/where they meet is unbeknownst to me. Based on this website, I�m assuming that volunteers, such as Marshall, Thea, Lolita, LaRai, Wayne, Anthony Griffin and others who have said that they are willing to assist are not actually involved. Now, I believe that there is certainly a disconnect in terms of effective and efficient or even fundraisers leading up to our reunion. As I was unaware of a fundraising trip to Atlantic City several months back, I personally have experienced the ineffectiveness of mailings, since I�ve moved several times within the past 20 years, not to mention that my parents have moved as well. That said, although word of mouth is always a good source of advertisement, I would like to strongly suggest (as a PR person and not a reunion committee memeber) that utilizing this website of course, local newspapers, i.e. (Delco Times, Scoop, Philadelphia Daily News, Inquirer, Tribune, Black Suburban Journal, Wilmington News Journal, etc.), Chester�s Cable Channel 11, flyers (send to local churches/place in community centers, local stores, taverns), posters, email blasts, etc. would be a more efficient and cost effective way to go. In the interim, hopefully a member of the reunion committee can find a way to inform you all of the details concerning the 20th reunion. I've been working really hard trying to make it happen for myself and the community at large. CHOICES, Inc. sponsored a successful pageant on May 1st so thanks to all of you who supported the event. The pageant winners and contestants were apart of the annual Mother's Day Parade. I don't know if any of you have driven through the city lately but they are doing lots of redevelopment. I'm excited about it. Downtown or "over town" is looking good as well as other parts of the city.
