Nathaniel L. Covert has been a policeman for a little over a year, being appointed to the force on Jan. 2, 1953.

Covert, born May 20, 1920, was raised in Chester and attended the public schools here.

During World War II he served "2 years, 3 months and 5 days" in the U.S. Navy. Part of that time he served in the South Pacific as a steward on board ship.

Prior to his appointment to the police force, Covert worked at American Viscose as a press operator. He is married to the former Lillian Jones and they have one son, Nathaniel L. Jr., 12, who is a student at Watts School. They live at 212 Pusey St.

Music and sports are listed as his hobbies. He plays the guitar.
