Levi Griffin

(A biographical sketch from a Chester Times or Delaware County Daily Times newspaper clipping, "Know Your Police" from the collection of John C. "Snakes" Boyle, contributed by his granddaughters, Jane Boyle & Patty Boyle.)

Patrolman Levi Griffin is used to walking, for in his 25 years and 3 months service on the Chester Police force he has done thousands of miles.

"Of course when the prowl cars came in I did a spell of riding also. I've been on foot and in cars off and on, and there was a time when I was in the Traffic Department for three years.

Griffin is a Cecilton, Cecil Co., Md., native, who came to Chester with his parents when he was nine years of age. He always lived in the 4th and Central section, and at present he and his wife live at 416 Flower st.

His wife is the former Ada P. Kilson, who is a retired mathematics teacher of the Douglass Junior High School.

Griffin worked in the steel mills around Chester before joining the force, and the job he likes so well as any since putting on his uniform is patrolling the central city section.

He and Mrs. Griffin have been married 35 years. The couple have no children. As for hobbies, Patrolman Griffin says he "likes all sports local and national."
