Edward Joseph Mea, 32, was appointed to the police department on Oct. 16, 1951.

A veteran of six years service in the U.S. Navy he served in the European, Asiatic and Alaskan areas. During part of the 1942 to 1948 period of service he did underwater demolition work and was honorably discharged as a shipfitter first class.

Before joining the police force he worked at Sun Ship as a pipefitter. He worked there from 1940 until he went into the Navy. After his discharge from the Navy he went back there until applying for the police appointment.

Born in Clifton Heights, he came to Chester when he was six years old and was educated in the parochial schools here.

Single, he lives with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mea at 39 N. Eyre dr.

His hobbies include skating, dancing, bowling and watching most other sports.
