Thomas E. Gibbons

(A biographical sketch from a Chester Times or Delaware County Daily Times newspaper clipping, "Know Your Police" from the collection of John C. "Snakes" Boyle, contributed by his granddaughters, Jane Boyle & Patty Boyle.)

Thomas E. Gibbons, a patrolman since Oct. 16, 1951, finally realized his dearest wish recently - he switched from traffic duty to a prowl car assignment.

Gibbons served 4 1/2 years in the U.S. Infantry during World War II, with 2 1/2 years South Pacific service. In that area he served as rifleman with the 41st Infantry Division.

Born in Chester, he attended St. Michael's parochial and Chester High School. Now married to the former Frances Taylor of Aston Mills, they have one son, Thomas Jr., 19 months. They live at 812 E. 9th st.

Prior to joining the police force Gibbons worked as a spinner for a year at American Viscose.

Gibbons still plays baseball and softball, and enjoys target shooting and watching boxing matches.
