July 12, 2004 Flooding

"When it rained...it poured. The trees were dancing, the grass was happy and the Flowers were smiling...but those of us on the roads did not join with them in their appreciation of the waters that fell.

Traffic was being redirected by Police, road blocks, and by nature herself. Roads became streams and flooding was everywhere. The job of the emergency crew was never ending. The fire engines, rescue cars sirens screamed down 9th street on their journey to help in this unforeseen happening. They do their jobs well. They are Thanked for the job they do.

Turtle Rock/Trainer rocks. As I tried to go back south on 9th to cut over Main (main was closed off) decided to take a peek at the infamous rocks. Written about many times on the Newstand and by Ed Gebhart in his Column. This was the old cooling off hole and natural water slide for many of the kids in the South Chester/ West end area for many years. It roared today."

Going N on 9th street out of Trainer into Chester. you can see the fire trucks in the distance assisting with this flooded area...

9th St. at Sunset

The car facing you with the lights is in the flooded area just North of 9th and Morton avenue at McIlvaine Street.
