To Tina S.

According to the Notre Dame class of '56 45th reunion directory from October 2001, Mary Mann Weddle is deceased and Jeanne McClitis DiGuiseppe and Barbara Shakespeare McCabe are not able to be located. Nothing on Elvira DiTella and Bernice Cappasso.

I apologize to the list for sending this personal message but Tina did not leave her email address so i could contact her privately.

in other words a "corporate decision" not the paper online itself?

I was told any complaints go to http://www.journalregister.com and complain.

I just found this site looking for something else and I'm glad I did. This is great! So many memories to share. I did see a couple of people that I remember from the Bennett Homes Projects (1950's, 60's and 70's). They were fun times for us kids then. I remember Sunny, the water-ice man, the popsicle man, the water-mellon man, the old ice-man (with the dripping truck), Mr. Softee, the dairy queen on ninth st., the eighth st. playground (I couldn't forget that because I fell off the merry-go-round and the swings so many times). I also remember when we used to call ourselves climbing up (Firecracker Hill(where that name came from, I'll never know),hiking out to Senard Farms (Sun Oil Farms), the football games over the athletic field (I could look out of my upstairs front winow and see them). The dances we used to go to as teenagers (over each others house). Too many memories to type right now.

Anybody out there who remembers, give me an E.

Oh, anybody remember the Ballard's on Norris Drive?

I am interested in the conversation about the delco times ,although i am NOT a fan of the newspaper, mr heron is correct in that they SELL newspapers, the WALL STREET JOURNAL is available online to subscrobers only $$$$$. we can argue about a free internet service forever, but the fact is the paper is a commercial operation, and has expenses and must, again, MUST MAKE A PROFIT!i talked to mr herron about his website, and told him that i thought the wilmington news-journal is a much better website in my opinion.he states that the news journal had the gannett news org. behind them(USA TODAY)with much more money to back it up.as has been discussed in the last few weeks web sites cost money to maintain and someone must pay for them!i think the paper's viewpiont is somewhat short sighted but, that is the way they see it.

Flo, The bar that you are talking about is no longer the Ponderosa. It was sold to my stepdaughters best friend's father two years ago. It is now called Rookie's River Room. I've been there a couple times before and after it was sold. I'm pretty sure you are right it was Joe Keenan jr that had it but I don't know him or his where abouts.

Patricia I remember Don Davis and Jean Keenan. Jeans brother Joe had a family, they lived in this area. His wife passed away young, but his son Joe Keenan Jr., I think he owns a bar called The Ponderosa over around the are where people dock boats. It might be around Ridley Creek.

Thank you to the anonymous one who posted regarding Jean Keenan. I also remember Don Davis well and sorry to hear of his passing so early in life. I was going to try to run down Jean Davis through the internet, but that would be useless now. If anyone knows her new married name, I would appreciate getting that information. I have many questions about my grandmother's side of the family and Jean could be a connection, not sure.

Also, I am really disappointed in the news here regarding Delcotimes. I check that out every morning, and at my age, especially the obits. I consider the loss a big one. I think it's foolish for them to discontinue participating in the internet. As it is now, anyone from practically every city in the country can go to the local paper there.

I remember as a child growing up in Chester we had 3 movie theatres, the Apollo on 3rd St. between Lloyd and Pennell, the State on 7th St. between Edgmont Ave (then) Ave. of States (now) and Sproul. And we had a skating rink. There was so much to do in Chester, I look forward to the time when I children will be able to say there's so much to do in Chester.

I just sent an e-mail to delcotimes after reading your post, to me it seems that the editor was trying to pin the blame on the internet for losing their customers. Well I guess they are and I belive they have been declining over the 20 or so years, guess we'll have to try dragging them in kicking to the "Information Age" eh? LOL

Here's some info for others who live away from the Chester area. I've followed happenings in the area via the Delco Times web site since even before there was an oldchester site. Recently, I noticed many fewer articles in all sections of this site. I e-mailed Phillip Heron, Editor and asked if they were phasing out the site. Here are some excerpts from his reply. "We believe we were giving too much away"--"readers simply getting their local news from the web site instead of buying the paper"-- "...it is unfair to the faithful readers from around the world but..." So like me you should say goodbye to Ed Gebhart and any other link you've had via the Times. The "bottomline" doesn't care about impact on people. Fortunately we still have oldchester. You residents who do buy the paper will have to keep us informed of the local news. For my part the Times site is no longer of interest to me.

James Gray: Jean Kennan married Don Davis of Chester. He starred along with Slick Gethers in the Clippers backfield in the late 1940s. Sadly he passed away at a young age a number of years ago. His wife's married name of course would be Jean Davis. I think they lived somewhere in the Prospect Par'Ridley Park area.

Terry:

It is true, when you go on the web and search the bicentennal there were many events nationwide at that time. There was a growing move to preserve the historical events ..

There was a wagon train reinactment that came from all over the country joining at Valley Forge.. That I remember seeing..If I'm not mistaken, the scouts locally were at the Forge at the time also, thats probably why I was there. The wagon trains had on the sides the state where they originated..People of all ages drove the wagons..some alone, some with the entire family...Those that were children would be around your age...won't it be interesting if one of them read these remarks and did ride thru Chester and stop at the event Tom mentioned on the way to VF..if someone did and had pictures along the way...we'd love seeing them. If you find the medallion that would be a great piece of history to scan and share with everyone..metal will scan very well..at least coins do.

Tom,

good memory! I remember that as well. Infortunately Philadelphia became the focal point of celebrations.Chester's significance to the history of the great commonwealth of Pennsylvania seems to be just a footnote in the telling of history. Pat, you are correct we should have as a city celebrated that historic landing. Just a small monument exists now. Tom, you brought up the Bicentennial. I have somewhere in my possession the commemorative Chester Medallion from that year. They were pretty nice if I remember correctly. I'll have to dig them out.

Actually the only time I can remember the celebration of Penn's Landing was in 1976 the BiCentennial year. They had a simulation landing it was a Saturday. I remember they stopped at the West End Boat Club to regroup because it was so windy on the river. Then they went to the Chester landing, had the celebration. From there they went to Phila.

Terry - Wow. Now what year was that? It's surprising to me that Chester never celebrated this date in history. We should have and this would have kept alive in people's memory how historical Chester is. Terry - please go further and give us the year, and if possible, other facts concerning his landing. Good for you Terry!!! That's one of the reasons for this site.

P.S. - Terry, if you can't find the information easily, go back a year before this in the archives on this site and just click "Find" - then when the menu pops up, type in the name "Penn". I look forward to getting this information.

I was just looking at the 1954 CHS Basketball team and recognized Marvin Cutler. Does anyone remember the watch he used to wear? I can't remember if he had it at Dewey Mann or CHS but instead of the numbers on the face of the watch, it spelled out his name. I was so impressed. I can remember going to the Columbus Center. We saw Theresa Brewer, Frankie Laine, The Four Aces, Bill Haley, The DeJohn sisters......weren't we fortunate to live in those times? I loved that time of my life. Life was good.

Good morning. I have an old 1946 Chester Times Yearbook and it has a section entitled Delaware County in Review - 1945. Thought you'd like to read some excerpts:

January 15, 1945 - Volunteers raised $24,000 in a drive to place the Chester Police Pension Fund on a sounder financial basis.

January 20, 1945 - Governor Edward MARTIN announced the appointment if E. Wallace CHADWICK, prominent local attorney, as Judge of the Delaware County Orphans Court to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Judge John E. MCDONOUGH.

March 1, 1945 - Tommy WRIGHT, Lennox Park Marine hero who lost his sight at Guadalcanal, was married to Wave Louise MCCARTHY of Dover, N.H., who helped care for him at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital.

March 30, 1945 - Fire broke out in the 3-story home of the Order of the Owls, Ninth and Sproul streets, causing an estimated $40,000 damage.

March 31, 1945 - Sgt. Edward F. MCGUIRE was named to head the city vice squad, replacing Patrolman Paul MCKINNEY.

June 13, 1945 - Andy CAMPBELL, for 33 years golf pro at the Springfield Club, died suddenly at the age of 57.

I have also posted this information the PADELAWA-L (E-mail).

I had a dream over the weekend. It was about my childhood but it was true. It was a memory of when I lived in McCaffery Village. When we were kids we would just about do anything for the almighty coin. I remember they had these grates around the community building that actually covered the basement window wells. Being a kid we were always on treasure hunts. The older guys would always be playing basketball or wiffleball behind the community building. I even remember the coin pitching games. Sometimes there would be 5 or 6 guys pitching coins against the wall and usually someone would throw one to hard and it would end up down at the bottom of one of the window wells which were probably 4 feet deep but to a kid more like 15. I would check them grates at least 4 or 5 tmes a day. Sometimes I'd find money sometimes I'd find marbles which we all had cans of and traded them like baseball cards. I remember the ingenious ways I would get this stuff out. I had an old adjustable white curtain rod that I found. Now everything you seen in the window wells you had to keep a secret otherwise you would have 5 guys trying to cop your prize and if someone was with you then it was halfsies. I would run home, well actually run home was right across the street from the building, and BORROW a piece of doublemint, yuk I was a juicy fruit kid, but if my mom chewed beemans I would had BORROWED a piece of that, grab my curtain rod and run back chewing the gum all the way, which was never ready for it's job when I got back. I would sometimes spend 2 hours trying to get my prize but when I did it was well worth it. Then one day my curtain rod came apart and it became a victim of the grated window well. We would always figure out new ways to get stuff out of those treasure pits, though.

I was born at Chester Hospital, Feb. 1940. My parents, Margaret and Frank Conner lived at 518 Parker St. I have one brother, Paul who lives in Swarthmore, Pa. My father worked at Ford Motor Co. and was a member of the Franklin Fire Co. He was known as "CAP", for having at one time been captain of the Rescue Squad and ambulance service. In 1953 or 54, I worked for a short time at Bullock's Pharmacy. Helped out in store and delivered prescriptions in the area. I also worked at the newsstand at the triangle at 7th & Edgemont, the Apollo theatre and the A&P at 12th and Edgemont. Your website stirs alot of memories. Thanks again.

To All: Please do not open any email with only the subject typed in and then only a attachment. Most of us will write a message in the body of the email then add what is to be added..delete without opening even if the message comes from one you know. The following was a explaination from my server when I wrote concerning my address being placed as the reply on the sent mail.

Thank you for contacting the Verizon Online Technical Support Department via e-mail. You don't have to be infected to be affected by the KLEZ family. With the W32.Klez virus family, if someone with you in their address book, has the virus, some things sent from their computer may come back to you, because the virus placed your name in the 'Reply To' field. This will not stop until the person with the virus, cleans their computer. CNN has reported 1 out of every 300 computers world-wide is infected with some form of the KLEZ family. Since you have no traces of the virus being reported, the only thing you can do for now, is establish mail filters in your mail client (Outlook, Netscape, Outlook Express) to block incoming virus messages. The help function (F1) should contain information on establishing filters. Should it become necessary, both Norton and McAfee offer removal tools at their websites. Please note that Verizon makes no claim as to which tool is more effective, and offers no support for removing this virus. Troubleshooting this virus is not supported by Verizon as it is the customer's responsibility to protect his or her individual mail program.

I'm certain Harvey had nothing to do with this, It's just the way some viruses operate. If anyone else gets this message, DO NOT download it.

Chester has a history for me. My maternal great grandfather was Horace Joseph Esrey, who I understand worked at Sun Ship, along with his brother Reese, Jr and his father David Reese "Pete" Esrey Sr. I have not been able to find any information on Horace. I believe my Great grandmother remarried and he seems to have vanished. Any help will be appreciated. If it wasn't for this website I would not have found the Sun Ship site which talked about my gg grandfather.

Dear Pat:

Sorry I never responded to your lunch invitation. Im not much of a go out and eat person I stay really busy and do not have much time to myself and I perfer it that way.

I just seen some of the posts on the Old Chester site and see you have taken quite a beating since april. I have not looked at the site in some time but thought I go and look at it last night.

I must agree that in any city the citizens of that city are responsible for it. Your analogy of the pool and the Mexicans and that they had total disregard for the rules was very good. I can respect that living here in Phoenix I know full well what you infered. And that analogy certainly applies to the decay of Chester and surrounding burrows, townships ect.

The malls (the major Anhcors) were leaving, the business left, The Shipyard left and then the majority of opportunity for a living left Chester as well, not so much because the people were leaving. Because not all left, some very dear Friends still reside, the majority of my Brothers and Sisters, and Mother still reside.

As is here, Chester, and in so many other communities, the ever present drug and gang problem is present. Welfare, and drugs run rampant, and they spend that money on there drug habits. Not in the malls or the local business, or fixing there homes, therefore in my opinon they (the mechantile) had to leave and seek better waters. (if the infrastructure goes away so do the people)

Look at Maryvale here on the west side of Phoenix its bad really bad. Murders, crime on a nightly basis but ill be damn if i'm going to sit down an allow this crime to happen any longer. In fact for the past year me and my partner have cleaned up this block. However, only one block.

So I believe in order for Chester to make a revival it will take alot of really dedicated people. I hear the new Mayor is trying to do just that, but it takes more than just him.

Im saddend by the deteriation of such a historical place as Chester. You must admit though that there were alot of corrupt politicians in office when you grew up and I know when I grew up as well. However, even that isnt the reason why Chester nearly died. (So should I ever live in Chester again I would do my part to clean up my block).

Be Good God Bless

Good morning everyone. Does anyone out there have an ancestor who was a member of the Post Wilde, NO 25 GAR? If so, would you know where to look for information about individuals who belonged to this Post?

Looking on this website I saw an old photo posted of surviving members of this Post, unfortunately for me the photo was taken in 1912, too late for my two great grandpas to be included in the photo. They were dead by then.

Naturally I would be happy to share any info I receive in my searches. If anyone out there has information on these two men (below) - PLEASE contact me!

Joseph DALTON and James F. PIERCE (please see "their obits below which mention the Wilde Post)

DEATH OF CAPTAIN PIERCE Old Fisherman and Veteran of the Civil War Succumbs to an Operation.

The death of Captain James F. Pierce late Saturday night following an operation in the Chester hospital, came as a surprise and shock for the many friends and aquaintainces of the veteran fisherman and soldier. Captain Pierce located in this city when a mere boy, he having been born in Marcus Hook. Most of his life was spent gunning and fishing along the waters of the Delaware river and bay and he ranked among the oldest fishermen of this section. Deceased served his country in the great struggle of the Civil War and was a member of Wilde Post, No. 25, G.A.R. which organization will attend his funeral. His illness was somewhat protracted, but it was only a few days ago that he was taken to the hospital in the hope that an operation would benefit him, but it proved too late.

------------------------------------------- DALTON--At Philadelphia, on the 29th inst., Joseph Dalton, formerly of Upland, in his 64th year. The relatives and friends of the family also Upland Lodge, No. 428, Knights of Pythias and Post Wilde, No. 25, G. A. R., are invited to attend the funeral services, on Saturday at 2:30 o'clock, in the Upland Baptist church. Interment at Upland Baptist Cemetery. (Chester Times--Chester, Pa. I have been to the cemetery frequently to take photographs of the progress of construction on the memorial for the veteraans of 4 early American wars.

I was dismayed by the deplorable condition I found this cemetery in. Helen saw me take a picture of the discarded markers back against the fence. I am glad she had enough interest to do something about the matter. I hope that is the last picture I am compelled to take of this type situation.

I received the following email from Helen Webber on Oct.23,2002 regarding St. Martin Cemetery, Marcus Hook, Pa.

Hi One & All,

Yesterday, 22 Oct 2002, Ginny DeNENNO & I went to St. Martin's Cemetery to recover metal gravemarkers, which had been removed from graves & were thrown behind a large tree over the years.

I asked & received permission from Bruce DORBIAN, Marcus Hook borough manager & director of the Marcus Hook Community Development Corporation. I, also, asked for the rod iron gate from the PHILLIPS burial plot. This gate was torn from the fence & on the ground when I found it 2 years ago. Rev. David RIBEIRO, pastor of the congregation, now in "Old St. Martin's Church" was kind enough to store the gate for us. These items were given to the "new" museum of the Delaware County Historical Society.

The metal gravemarkers could not be replaced on the graves because of their condition & no one knows were the graves are today.

Walt Watkins--I don't know if you follow this site, but I did meet your wife at the reunion. On the chance that you do, check the What's New section and you will find the link for a picture of the CHS 54 BB Team. You'll recognize some of your former Smedley players there. I want you to know how much I appreciate what you taught me in those two years. Your coaching stayed with me as I continued to play and eventually coached basketball. Jim Bower told me that you attended his Mother's funeral. He appreciated you being there. Hope you are well. --Dan McGinniss

It's been a while since I have posted here, but I have been reading all along. It does my heart good down here in Florida, so far away from home, to read the memories. I only wish the pathetic bickering would stop. I was thinking today about all the wonderfully simple things that we all did as children in Chester. Simply taking a walk to Memorial Park, holding my dad's hand, is one of the most preciouse memories of my childhood. Playing dodge ball, kick ball and jumping rope in that alley between 7th and 6th sts . Roller skating on what then seemed to be the best sidewalk in town in front of Pulaski Jr High. Getting to sit with John ( the pigeion man we all called him) in that great big green swing in his yard. The lady on the corner of 7th and Highland who would always yell at us and squirt us with her hose when we rode our bikes on the sidewalk past her house. May processions at Rez, where the sidewalks were so crowded with spectators that you could barely get by. Rez fairs and the Sacred Heart Fairs. The church bells and the fire house horn. The sounds from the river, the trains rambling by. I remember seeing Ted Kennedy on the back of the train carrying Bobby Kennedy's body to DC as the train went by Highland Avenue. These moments and memories make us who we are. Share them, remember them and pray that somehow our children will look back on their childhoods with some of the same type of nostalgia. Let them someday read this website and enjoy our memories.

Now we're talkin'. Thank you Tom for further info on the old Highland Garden's land, and now, yes, I do remember those swings (I would go out my back door in the evening and swing away until I got nauseous - true.) So, I guess I did live there when they were being built which would have been, I believe, 1942.

To Iris Messick: My special thanks go to you with your wonderful and informative post. Please, keep it up and I, for one, look forward to more history from you.

Before McCaffery Village was built there was a large playground between 10th and 12th streets, and between Clover Lane and Booth street. It had rows of large swings, small swings, and seesaws. The swings were made of two ridgid steel bars with a seat at the end of the bars. Between 12th and 13th streets, right behind Clover Lane was a baseball field with a row of wooden grandstand, and a large wood backstop. Some semi pro teams played there, and us kids when the big guys weren`t around. The rest of the area, all the way over to Highland Ave, was open field.

Hello Iris - I, too, have enjoyed Rev. MacQueen's book about the Crozers. Thanks also for writing about the church's celebration. My grandmother, Margaretta Dalton Jackson, was a life long member of Upland Baptist and used to work on "spires" and donate time to the church. When growing up in neighboring Brookhaven, I would frequently walk down Main Street or Upland RD. and loved the tall stone walls. I have not visited the graveyard attached to the church in many years but there are many Dalton ancestors buried there.

Thanks again for the history. By the way, did you see Bill & Mary Jackson at the celebration? Just wondering. :)

Regard to Upland (originally Oplandt) Baptist Church. Yes we did celebrate our 150th anniversay this past week end and through out the year, our theme is "The unending story of God's Presence..." A year ago we began with the present and went back in time ending with a dinner on Oct 19, 2002, and an evening candlelight service on Sunday Oct 20, 2002 which was reminisent of the 1800's. Our chapel hall was decorated to represent the John P. Crozer home in the 1850'swhen they held an elegant dinner party. Some of the members dressed in fachions of the period. Our present pastor, Rev. Brenda Bartee gave a sermon entitled "If these walls could talk". Upland Baptist church was built by John P. Crozer in 1851 and established October 9, 1982. John Crozer had several failed business ventures and finally built a mill along the Chester Creek (near the Caleb Pusey House). He then married his wife Sallie. They had nine children. Several children have left their names in the city of Chester. One of John and Sallie's daughters, Margaret Crozer married William Bucknell the founder of Bucknell University. They are both buried in the Upland Baptist Church cemetary along with both Northern and Southern soldiers of the Civil War. Upland Baptist served as part of the "underground railway" during the civil war. One of the sons left money for the establishment of the Crozer Seminary (now part of Crozer Chester Medical Center) which Martin Luther King attended. Money was also left for the establishment of the "Home for Incurables", the old gray mansion, the beginnings of the Crozer Chester Medical Center. In the 1950's part of the church and chapel burned down and was re-built within a year. The original pews were saved. To answer the question of a booklet of history, yes we do have one and I will see that Caroline gets a copy. I was co-chairman of the year's events for the 150th celebration. I knew the name Crozer and that "he" had something to do with the hospital. Having read Rev. David MacQueen's book (The Crozer's of Upland) I could not get enough of this local history.

Is there a history buff out there who might be familiar with a church called the South Chester Chapel? It may well be a closed church now as it was established in 1872. Please see the info below I obtained from the Minutes of the Upland Baptist Church (from microfilm).

The Martin family attended the Upland Baptist Church in Upland, Pa. until May 1872. At that time a letter of transfer was issued by the pastor, dismissing John and Elizabeth, when they joined the South Chester Chapel, a newly formed church.

To Lee CHS '45. I found your post about Highland Gardens and Father Brady very interesting. I never met him until 1943 when I entered Rez. He was a powerful and strong leader of the church, respected by all. I also understand that when he passed away, he left that school in an extraordinarily good financial condition. So, the betterment of that school and church were his prime interests. He was a credit to the catholic church.

For 'good ole Joe - go back a year into the archives of this site and you will see how many memories I contributed to this site of my growing up in Chester. I posted memories until I finally ran out. So, now I have done my part and am in the position of asking others to please do the same. I am very proud of what I contributed here for the younger generation to enjoy.

TO GRANNY.... Before Highland Gardens was built there were a couple of athletic fields above 10th St directly across from the school/Church. Rez used one field. Another was used by industrial teams. A young Father Brady in sweat clothes and a whistle around his neck spent many, many hours out there with the kids. When the surveyors came and started to stake the properties out for development the stakes would be mysteriously pulled up and scattered during the night. This went on for some time till Father got all the school together and read the riot act. It was a shame to lose the great competition of those industrial league teams. I was not a student at Rez but I lived just down the street next door to Shot McGinn and we would get a blow-by-blow account every day. I'm sure some of those "older" Rez grads from the recent reunion can imbellish on this history.

Well, good ole joe and your anonyous counterpart, it's been almost an hour, and I see no memory posting by either of you people.

So, as the intelligent people out there can clearly see, this is the prime problem, people like "good ole' Joe" and his anonymous supporter. No memories, just stupid "good ole boys" remarks. Do you really want this site to continue like this?

The only way this site can be brought up to the standards it deserves, is for YOU to be active in posting your memories. Do not let the attackers intimate you - because that is all they are capable of doing - attacking - they are not intelligent, just mean-minded. self-serving individuals. They don't care if Chester's history is preserved or not. Just post your memories and be proud of your contribution.

Think positive - not negative - Chester does not warrant any further negativity. What Chester Makes, Makes Chester - don't let non-interested parties make a difference as to how you feel about your growing up in Chester.

Anyone who is cautious about revealing your name or your memory, send it to me and I will post it for you. Just ask on this board, and we will be in touch.

Other than, guess who I am, yes, I think I remember you, where did you live, what was your younger sister's name, the name of the local business, does anyone, I mean ANYONE, have anything to contribute to the HISTORY OF CHESTER? For crying out loud, one name of one individual you can't remember does not a dent on a website such as this make.

What is wrong with the people from Chester? If you don't have any good or even bad memories to contribute to this valuable site, ask you mother, father, grandparents and post what they tell you. Nobody but you cares who Tom, Dick or Harry, or Jack or Debbie or who I am, unless these people have something of importance to contribute. You are making this board one of boredom. And, if it comes to the point where it is no longer in existence, you have only yourself to blame - for not sharing your family's memories and history. If you have explored geneology - post it, let other's know.

Don't take advantage of a worthwhile institution for your own personal enjoyment, which deters from your children's advantage and could possibly go down in history.

What has happened to Chester during the past several years, destroyed any further history of our beloved "home town". There are good people trying to revive that history and only memories at this point, can do that. Hopefully, the city will be restored and more memories for future generations can come to fore. THAT IS YOUR JOB. Now, go to work if you have any respect at all for your ancesters who lived and worked there.

You are making a sham of what our forefathers (those from whom we all come in Chester) strived to achieve for this one little city in America, which, if you are not aware, is more historical than Philadelphia, etc. Read the history of Chester, then strive to make it continue.

John has also made it clear that this board is also meant for people from Chester to re-connect with others from the past. But, get each other's email address and continue on from there, and DON'T make a chat room out of your connection. There is nothing sweeter than connecting with old friends, and it is encouraged.

Do not use this board for your personal enjoyment, use it for the history and betterment of old Chester - then you will find true satisfaction in what you post. Believe it or not!

To readers:

I was asked to explain my earlier post ...why would I say, John "Why don't you close this site" (TO MAKE A POINT)

Do I want John to close the board, NO,

do I want the NEWSSTAND closed, of course not...

Do I want wonderful people like Connie Walker and others like her to stop putting memories on this board, again NO...

If I stepped out of usual form it was to make a point.

This webmaster should not have to deal with what others think he should do or should not do with HIS website. He does not have to answer to those of us that visit here. He is trying to preserve as much of Chester History as possible, the best way he can. Because of John ...CHESTER is AWAKE, no longer Sleeping.

I am wasting valuable memory space by having to explain my post..I apologize to anyone that did not realize the true point of my message. I will retreat back to keying in information. Please, Please add your memories.

JOHN:

Why don't you just close this OLDCHESTERPA site..

Or better yet, close the NEWSSTAND and only keep the history information and genealogy menu alive.

Then we would not have this most recent and very interesting post from one CONNIE WALKER to read. This ladies Mom has memories that go back and she is sharing, not wasting valuable board space. Sharing memories has made this site grow faster than ever expected. Sharing memories has kept our memories alive, sharing memories has opened up a yearly get together that has packed a hall.

Let this subject drop...those that want to contribute in this manner can, those that want to place an ad can, those that want to buy from the store can, this will help keep this site growing and those that want to just visit can.

Obviously some people don't just get it! Nor will they ever.

Somebody tries to do something nice for people, like this website, but there is always the person out there who will find negative, and unfortunately they have found "our" website to post.

Why don't you do some research first, just the basics of what it takes to run a website. Do you see anywhere that it is a pay only website. Didn't think so.

I stumbled across this web site while surfing the web for geneology information. My mother, Mary Elizabeth (Hassin) Haltaman was born in a home near 3rd and Grant on December 11, 1910. She is still living in a nursing home in Melbourne, Florida. She still has a very good memory, so I will post some things as I have the time. First--regarding the 3rd and Grant area. She tells me that this area was pretty much English and Irish in her early years. It was later known as Bethel Court. She said that in the 1920's it became rather run down and, according to her, was cleaned up when Ford Motor Company came in. My mother was also secretary to Josiah Sleeper of Sleeper's Business College for several years and also taught typing and stenography at Sleeper's night school. I asked her for her very first memories of Chester. She told me that her first memory was during World War I. She said she must have been about six or seven at the time. Evidently, Remington manufactured some sort of ammunition there during the War. She said that somehow a saboteur got into the plant and blew it up. She said that a number of workers were killed and that they were all buried either together or near each other on a circle in Chester Rural Cemetery. She also tells me that she can remember Armistice Day at the end of World War I. More on that later.

Some thoughts about growing up at the Chester Y: Maybe this will precipitate some thoughts from others who shared similar experiences. I started there as a 9yr old in 1944.Eddie Morrell was a major influence in my development from boy to man He helped boys develop physically while stressing positive character traits. As a boy I learned basketball playing with men who took no prisoners ie the Seigich brothers, Harry Seaman, and Carl McEllwe. There were others like Art Nazigan and Stan Janicki who tendered their lessons more gently. I remember watching the great informal weightlifting contests between Lou Ferry and Jack Klotz. They hung everything they could find on the bar(including little kids). When I got older, I would spend Fri and Sat nights after the pick-games on the Y steps learning the real facts of life from the more experienced regulars. You know the Y was never the same after it left 7th& Market.

You and every other person on here has given their memories and pictures and history of Chester because that is what the web-site has asked for but money? that should never be an equasion, if Mr. Bullock can not afford HIS site than he should give up his hobby. Hi Sharon, and everyone else I've not really been to the site in awaile but glad to be back. Sharon sorry to here about trick, I only remember a little about him as I was to young. But I know he hung with my brothers. Any way I was between the ages of 5 and 10 when we lived in the village but like my sister Dottie said I do have alot of good memories from that time. Does anyone remember the dances on friday nights. at the comunity center? Also down stairs there was a reck hall and I used to go play pool and ping pong there. And I also remember playing in the showers and clogging them up. Also in the summer I would enjoy going there for arts and crafts and box hockey. god so many things happened in those few years I could go on and on. how about swimming in trainer rocks or getting sand stones from the junk yard. well I just wanted to say Hi to all if you remember me give me a hallower if not then GO CHESTERIES.

John has never asked for anything, but you would think that out of the kindest of your hearts you could donate. Old Chester is giving you a heck of a lot of History and pictures. Many people have donated a lot of time and energy to build this up. I feel much better knowing that I can help, I felt pretty bad using up all the space for nothing. This material that everyone is finding and sharing would never have been. Their are a few books written about Chester's beginning and they tell you early facts, but to know how chester was created, how people lived in the different eras and what they did. Their is so much history it could not be contained in one book and people have their memories that they have written down otherwise no one knows each one of us memories, each little memory tells you a lot and add all together and you get lifespans of knowledge, everyone needs knowledge. If I could see it all again I would be reallly happy. If we could go back, bvut we can't so read all about it. It's all here. florence

I said I wouldn't post here again, but it didn't include defending who and what I know as right when it comes to John Bullock's unselfish gift - and I emphasize GIFT - to old Chester.

Harvey Martin is the most admirable man I know. The respect that Harvey has gained from others, far outweighs any question of his honesty from one or two critical individuals. He would never do or post anything that would discredit John Bullock's site, the internet, per se, nor any individual, known or unknown to him. He is a true and loving Christian man - to all.

In answer to the individual who posted anonymously that one day we would have to pay to enter this site, it wouldn't be a bad idea for individuals such as yourself who apparently enjoy discrediting others, anonymously. But John believes in a free and accessible site - freedom on speech. John Bullock is a credit to America and we should all follow in his footsteps. God Bless America, Chester, and John Bullock, and people like Harvey Martin.

TO DUFFY;i also worked at the FORD PLANT IN CHESTER during the summer of 1957,one day i drove cripples around to service bay,all day and they paid me to drive brand new cars,ALL DAY i don't think i ever loved a job more than that,20 years old driving brand new fords around ,wow,i loved it.i got a photo of the plant before they closed it in feb,1961. doesn't seem like it was that long ago.the edsel was doomed to fail, they were virtually duplicating the car in mercurys and ford fairlane 500 s ,mr mc namara pulled the plug on that in a hurry.it is ashame that the car was named for edsel ford, because he was a styling expert ,who died way before his time.the 1939 lincoln continental was his creation.

to PATTI/BROKHAVEN your dad's car was either a Kaiser or a FraZier not both.Kaiser and Frazier were partners in forming the company after ww2,Henry J. Kaiser eventually bought out Frazier when they had a dispute, the company was originally the Graham and Henry J. bought into it and supplied the$$$.they were built at the former Ford -Willow Run plant,in Mich.Kaiser then bought Willys/Overland and produced the commercial version of the Jeep. I thought you might want to read this worthless bunch of trivia about the Kaiser/Frazier.The cars were later moved to and produced in Brazil. The Jeep was sold to American Motors..............Kaiser produced the Henry J and the Allstate for Sears. The Henry J was named for Henry J Kaiser.I believe there was a dealer here in Chester, maybe at 8th and Concord.A good car but but not accepted by buying public in large numbers needed to succeed.I also believe the Allstate was displayed at the Sears store on Edgmont Ave here in Chester if my memory serves me correctly.forgive my spelling of Frazier and or Kaiser.

Harvey,I also recieved an invite a few weeks ago to join the yahoo group for old chester.Although I did not accept the invite I really don't feel that its someone unhappy with this site.It could be that someone is taking the advice posted some time ago for the chatters to hold the ongoing personal chats elsewhere thus freeing up the site for more posting of chester history.I will continue to check this site daily for all th egreat postings. Many of them by you Harvey. You seem to have an unending source of info to help all.

This site brings back so many great memories. I lived in Mccafferty Village for a few years in the 70's. Sharon Tuttle, I think I remember you. I believe you hung around with my cousin Michele Scarpato? I lived on 14th street between the Faulkners and the Porters. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Joanie Faulkner or Annette Porter, I'd love to hear from them!

I have just encountered this GuestBook page and can't express enough the excitment of finding it.

I read the entire lst section and plan to read the rest. I was born in Chester 1945 and moved to Maryland in l953. I have an uncle still living there and when I can I still visit there. My Uncle BROYLES, Robert "Bud" had a radio/tv repair shop. My father, Samuel Hetzel worked for him. My father played the guitar and many more instruments with many friends.

Please keep this page going , You have brought to mind areas of my childhood and I hope to remember more and learn more of the history of Chester. Thank one and all.

Columbus was Italian. He couldn't get a boat there. So, he goes to Spain, and they give him a boat.

Then he comes to the Carribean, and thinks that he is in India.

Yes Florence, I agree with you. The entire country should be sprayed. That Is the proper way to do things. You don't just spray certain places so the problem just moves up or downstream, (so to speak). No part of the United States should be left out of the quarantine actions that have been taking place. We all might as well be in Maryland or Virginia right now If we are going to be left here with no protection against killer mosquitoes.

To Daniel Hernick - My God, sir - Hernick's Shoe Store on Sproul St.! Did THAT ever send some memories crashing back into my rattled brain. When I was just a little boy I needed to wear corrective shoes - My Mother would take me to Hernick's for them. Your Father was the nicest man - after 40 years I still remember him. I also still remember how fascinated I was looking at my feet - and wiggling my toes - in the foot fluoroscope your Dad had there in the store. I did not know my foot bones looked like that! Man, this site really seems to pull everyone in. If I am not mistaken, David Gluck - who posted not long ago - is the brother of my best boyhood friend, Doris Gluck from Dupont St. in Chester. Yeah, this is "Dunk" - ha! ha! I am so sorry I was not able to make the recent reunion and have the pleasure of meeting all of you and especially the pleasure and honor of meeting Mr. John Bullock and his lovely wife who have made this all possible for us. But I see it went very well and I am very happy for that. My best to everyone - Floyd

Hello fellow oldchesterpa.com members. A friend of mine called me tonight, and they were trying hard to kill two mosquitoes that were flying around In the house. I have often thought about It, but didn't decide to make any mention of It until they said to me quote,"Have you made any mention of this on the website that you so often speak about, concerning no mention of Chester being sprayed for the prevention of the West Nile Virus?" unquote. I told my friend that she was right, andthat I would be sure to post this thought to get some sort of feedback. Many towns In Delaware County have been sprayed for the prevention, and many of the quarantines have been mentioned In the Daily Times. I haven't read anything about Chester being sprayed. Congratulations to Police Commisioner Wendel Butler on being chosen last night to take over as Mayor of Chester after Dominic Pileggi resigned. Hopefully our city can be sprayed now maybe. Maybe It already was but I sure haven't heard anything about It. We want to continue to live also. Peace and love, Fled.

That was Terry Mann. He and his sister, Linda lived at 1112 - which is the house I presently own and rent out. My Family lived at 1124 (Bradleys). Gail Murray is married and operates the 7 11 at Concord and Dutton Mills Road in Aston. Dawn past away about 8/10 years ago because of breast cancer. I remember your Dad. Mary Lou Jones: I remember you living in the 1200 block of Curry, first house. I lived in the middle of the 1100 block of Curry St. Do you remember Geraldine Schaff, The Baines sisters (Pat, Doris, Shirley & Judy) and Linda Mann. They also lived in the 1100 Block of Curry during that same time. How about Dawn and Gail Murray who lived in the "Court". I saw Margaret Phillips a long time ago, but some of the Halls are still there: Mary, Kathy Butch and Joe to name a few; as well as the Caffos. I wrote in earlier on this site about the Squire Hoagie Shop, and Foulkes jewelers, the 5 & 10 and dry cleaners; just to name a few of the stores on Morton. I also heard from Beverly Haynes from Hancock Street. There has been a lot of people from McCafferty Village writing in. Hopefully we start hearing from more people from the East side of Chester as well.

Just looking to see what has happen to old Chester, Pa. 37 years have passed sense I lived there. I do come and visit my family, but most of my stay is short. Maybe I'll come to stay longer when I have times. I Miss Womacks steak shop on concord road and the good times I had growing up in the Bennett Homes Projects on Norris Dr. "HI! Fransetta."

Just looking to see if anyone knows Judy Greer who lived in McCaffrey Village on Knight Place. She was my babysitter back in the early 1950s. It's odd looking at the Newstand because my grandmother and grandfather (Florence and Lawrence News) would walk there from their house on Providence Avenue (across from some park?) which I think is now Avenue of the States. As a young boy, I have fond memories of Chester and Eddystone. My father managed a record shop in downtown Chester (Al Acuna -- he ran around with the Four Aces). My mother, Dorothy Dalphey, died in the early 50s and was a parishoner at Resurrection. I went to Resurrection for two years, then moved to Eddystone (11th Avenue) and went to St. Rose of Lima. Went back several years ago and so much has changed. I have relatives in Wallingford, Crum Lynne, Eddystone and Drexel Hill. I think about moving back, but the winters are TOO COLD. Seattle is the coldest I can handle. Anyone know the Prices, the Cericolas, the Acunas?

Thank you class member of 1956...someone has been kind enough to offer the year books from 1955 thru 1959 to key in the classes...Once we have added the ones we have, we will be contacting those that have left their phone numbers with other years...Keying information into the computer takes time as it is part time ...We will be getting all information on board as soon as possible. and returning the many that we are now working on...

Thanks again to everyone at the get together and to those who have added messages and memories to the site...To those that were unable to be there we hope that you will enjoy reading the messages, seeing the pictures that have been added.they are for you..and please continue checking the What's New section. There are several others who have logged onto this site who are CHS graduates, class of 1956, who can -- along with me by this message -- verify that Carmella LaSpada graduated in 1956. Ed Gebhart is incorrect. Our graduation ceremony was held on Tuesday, June 5, 1956 at the Chester School District Athletic Field. I was there, also a member of that 1956 graduating class. So was Horace Walker. So was Rose DiOrio Watson, the current contact for our class. I still have my copy of the CHS 1956 yearbook and the Commencement Program handed out on that occasion. Carmella LaSpada is listed among the Seniors on page 108 of the 1956 Annual. She is listed among the 30 girls of the College Preparatory section of the graduating class in the June 1956 Commencement Program. Her career after CHS speaks for itself and doesn't need a continuing controversy about the year she graduated from Chester High School. It was long ago, but not quite as long ago as Ed Gebhart makes it.

His descedent Sarah Gorby who married William Nolan in Tyler County, VA/WV was my great grandmother. Sarah died in Tyler County, WV & is buried there. If anyone can give me any information about Thomas Gorby I would appreciate it very much. Thank you. Pauline

Dottie, I lived on Pulaski Dr. My brother had muscular dystrophy. If you lived there in the 70's you will remember me or one of my family taking him for walks in his wheel chair. I put some pictures in the neighborhood section of McCaffery.

I found this website about a year ago and Wow what a difference today. Great Job! It is great to read about my city of 37 years and, by looking in the past, see hope for the future of Chester. So many fond memories that others are sharing bring back my own memories. I lived on the west end and some of my best memories were of catching the bus in front of Sacred Heart Hospital and going into town. Shopping at Harry's shoe store for the best shoes on earth. Harry and his lady helper (I can't remember her name) treated a customer like they had known you forever. From there, we went to Sears and Spear Bros. and then had lunch at the 5&10. That was a big day out for my sisters and I. So many names sound familiar here. I think I graduated with Sharon White. Class of 82? And i remember Ron Timinski, kind of hard not calling him Mr. Timinski. My parents went to the gathering and enjoyed it so much. My father was born in a house on West 3rd street 73 years ago, at a time when women didn't go to hospitals to have children. I am grateful that on this website the emphasis is not on the negative but on the good things that made Chester and keep making Chester. The people that care, like you guys. Keep up the good work. May God Bless You All!

To Craig Rainey, I believe you were referring to me regarding the Jr. H.S. Pole Vault record. In the early 50"s the record was 6 Ft and it stood for 10 yrs. I broke the record and set a new record of 9 ft and am curious as to how long that record lasted. During that same track and field meet another Smedley student broke and set a new chin-up record but I don't recall his name. Am enjoying Old Chester web site and it brings back fond memories. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

I'm sitting here patiently waiting for the Eagles to play, and decided to chime In. Yesterday's oldchesterPa get together was very nice, and I appreciated meeting you all as well. I can't wait to see all of the additional data that will soon be added to the website. I saw one of the members of Chester's own Gospel disciples singer's getting Mr. Bullock's wife to scan alot of his Chester history and photo's, and really was happy to see that he contributed info about the Great Leopard skating rink. I remember my aunt Gloria Bruton used to take me there all the time to skate. After watching, Patty Duke, Batman, Green Hornet, and The Munster's, we were off to the rink at 6th and Penn. Rod Powell; glad you showed up, and contributed your Delco Blind Society Info to be added to the site. To the person that asked me a little while back about the High Jump record that you once held in Jr. High, get back to me. I want to help you with that Information. All of the exhibit's were great, and Dave Burman, those basketball memories were Fantastic. See you all on Oct. 4th 2003 at Asbury AME Church at 18th and Providence in Chester. Peace and Love! Fled

The Fall Get Together was a smashing success! The Church Hall was jammed...I met Caroline, Florence and George, Ray and Marie, Jim and Donna, I saw John Bullock, Dave Komarnicki, Craig "Fled" Rainey, George Reaves, Marion Hampton, Dolores Freeman, Harry Park, Dave Burman. Best I can remember at the moment. I got a hotdog with John's sauce. I was fascinated by Sam Lemon's exhibit of the Ridley Family. There was plenty to look at. And it was fun!

The party is over, but what a party...

I would like to thank all the people that did not mind my taking their picture...No one was prepared for me and my little camera, but all were more that gracious in allowing me the pleasure of adding them to the Fall get to gether photo book..I must apologize for some that may have been there and I did not get your picture...or turned their heads before the picture caught their face...

I also want to thank John and his wife Susan for being extremely thoughtful Hosts.

The exhibits were filled with interesting History and photos..to the exhibitors many thanks for providing a visual look at your projects...Your being there added to making the day a rewarding visit back into OLDCHESTERPA.

To the many, many people that came and brought pictures for Susan to scan and those that brought their year books to me to key in, I can only say thanks you...Several books go back as far as 1916...with class photos that will be scanned..You cannot realize the history these books hold...of CHS, of St. James.and others offered. To those that gave me their phone numbers to get books after keying the ones I have, I will be in touch...but again thank you for trusting me with the loan of your books and willingly sharing their history, I will make sure that I return them in the condition that I received them.

A special note to Mr. Jesse Phillips..your student has caught up to you in age..your are ageless..And thank you for the special gift that you brought to me...Folks, I now have a copy of the design for the sewing box so many have remembered and written about...Mr. Phillips had the girls at Dewey make the boxes in shop...I am Blessed to have had the opportunity to once again meet you, it has been 48 years...

and Senator Dominic F. Pileggi,, you said you would be there if you could and you were...With your busy schedule and having to tie up loose ends as Mayor, Thank you..

I just wanted to write a brief note to tell you how much Susan and I enjoyed meeting so many of you today at our "Get-Together".

It's always a real treat for me to get to meet you in person and put a face with your name!

We had a wonderful turnout - well over 300 people, and from all indications everyone had a *super* time. We're looking over the registration cards this evening so I'll be able to give you a better final count soon. I'll also be interested to read your comments there and to see the results of the survey about whether you'd like to continue with a once-per-year or twice-per-year event.

Many thanks once again to each and everyone who helped by hosting, serving as Greeters, exhibitors, etc., and to North Chester Baptist Church for their hospitality and for making their facilities available to us.

I'll be getting the pictures together and will plan to get a full report up on the website some time next week after I get home.

Thanks once again to one and all - I'll be looking forward to our next opportunity to get together in person and share more stories, recollections & pictures of Old Chester!

Ye Olde (and very humble) Webmaster,

John

Had a wonderful time at the get together today. I'm not good at estimating numbers, but I would guess there were over three hundred people there . John- You dun gud. My wife, Marie , was with me and had an equally good time. There were several people there from her CHS class of '51 and her old neighborhood around 7th and Lincoln. Maybe, for next years event, we could get them to open the YMCA building in the old Eyre Park area in order to hold the crowd. I finally got to meet "C" and what a friendly and vibrant woman she is.

I have so many fond memories of the place i grew up in....remembering how my best friend and i used to spend the whole day "over town" going to Rodgers, Yorks, Woolworths and Lees Record Store where u would stand elbow to elbow searching for that 45 to spend your last dime on. I remeber going to Honeysuckle Farms to get that "homemade" ice cream, shopping at the A&P on ninth street. I remember how i had fun at all of my schools...Watts where i had the meanest teacher in the school district, Lincoln, Columbus, Booker T, Showalter and the "High" where i had the most fun of all being the high schoold mascot, particiapting in a number of activities and leaving there and going to college as a C.H.S. grad. I now work in the city and have a son in the school distirct. I have so many fond memories and i won't let outsiders talk negative about my city.

Mr.Timinski. I was very happy to read your post tonight. I just came In from watching the Red Dragon movie, and as usual I checked In to the guestbook. All of the members of the old Beechclub still remember all of the work you did with the pep club at the High. Do you remember the old Beechclub that used to come to the games In dresses and wigs to cheer along with the pep club? You should, because at the time you didn't think It was a very good Idea, but we meant well. It was just great fun to us to cheer for the clippers in those outfits and wigs. As you may already know; one of the beechclub members died last year. My good friend Jesse Shaw. Take care and I hope to see you tommorrow at the Oldchesterpa get together. I am thrilled to see this site and the number of persons who have taken advantage of it. During the years I worked at Chester High School [1973-1988] I often asked for assistance from the administration to set up but no help was provided. So I see this as a tremendous opportunity for everyone to contribute and learn. Keep up the fine work.

Born and raised in Chester. Went to Chester Schools, Old Oak Grove, Wetherill, Smedley and Chester High School. Use to go to the newsstand under the bridge at 6th street and buy song pages. Had all the words to current songs but not the notes. Cost was 10 cents. Remember the "Stanley Spa" lunch room next to the Stanley Theater? Loved it. Went to the movies every saturday at that theater. Would stop at Silver's 5 & 10 and buy candy and then the movies. One Christmas I worked at Stotter's Dept Store at 3rd and Mardket sts. My father was a policeman and I am getting things together to add to the Chester Policeman website. Sorry I missed th renunion at North Chester Baptist Church. Didn't know anything about it until I got this web site. My Nephew lives in West Chester and found this site and told me about it. Love this web site. Keep adding to it. Also doing genealogy. Names I am researching are Bowers, Laurence, O'Brien, Rooney, Mc Larn.

Bette Spence: If you could give the name of the D & B. corps they may have taken pictures of the event...Surprised the Chester Times did not have any information on it. Or perhaps the Christopher Columbus Group that is still active in Chester..I thought they were instrumental in having the statue erected.

Ray, ...As you have read on many occasions here your Aunt and Uncle are remembered with much warmth by former students..I along with so many others were taught many things that became helpful in later years...Over the years Mr. & Mrs. Phillips have entered many converstations, all with fond memories of the time spent at Dewey..Many of us still use the recipes your aunt gave us in our cooking classes.

As for the infamous sewing box...Joan remembered that it was a book...design..She probably has it stored away.

We will all look forward to seeing them. Just in case they can't make it in person, we know they will be there in spirit and will be able to see the pictures on this site ....

As for short term memory, when they remember who I am, they will know I had it in Jr. High...

See you there..Caroline

To all you Dewey graduates from the mid forties and fifties - I just got off the phone with my uncle - Jesse Philipps who was the shop teacher. He said that he and his wife (Shirley Dimm -Home Economics teacher) will try their best to come to the reunion. A lot depends on Shirley. She has suffered several small strokes that has effected her short term memory and made it very difficult to get around. I mentioned the sewing box he used to have the girls make when the boys went over to Home Ec. for a few weeks and the girls were in shop. He said he would try to locate the plans for the boxes. But, I wouldn't be too optomistic. He's now in his mid 80's and he has some trouble remembering day to day things. I have the same problem but I call it CRS.

I have always been interested in the history of Chester. I only lived there for about three years on Glen Terrace. I moved to nearby Woodlyn and lived throughout the county. I'm only 19 yrs. old and although I was born in Denver, CO and lived in Ridley most of my life, Chester will always be my home. I can't believe the pictures...Chester used to be the spot. I can't wait until it gets like that again!!!(cuz I'll be back).

To add to my previous post, we need all former cheerleaders from those teams 1976 to 1980, and the contact info for each one of you. All of the assistant coaches, and band members from that era also. Currently our goal Is to have the football reunion In November 2003, but everything will get finalized once we come together and select a Chairman, a secretary, and get a treasury. Reach Fitz at Alldelco@hotmail.com or me at the above e-mail address. Other former Clippers will be welcome to attend also once we get the players from our era squared away first. Peace and Love Fled.

To all of my teammates from the Chester High football teams from 1976 to 1980. We are planning a Clipper football reunion. I received an e-mail from Fitzgerald Clements about the plans. The last time this was planned it didn't pan out because of lack of help for Fitz. Well, this time I'm going to help my main man to make this thing happen. The first thing that we want to do Is get the names of all former players and coaches from particularly those teams from 76 to 80. We won the Del Val A Championship under Head Coach Earl Mosley in 1979, who currently Is the running backs coach for the NFL's Chicago Bears.
