Text of Obituary: 

Edward Grobes, 58, of Chester, an employee of Har Zion Cemetery, died Jan. 30 at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby.

He was born in Glenolden, where he lived most of his life before moving to Chester.

Mr. Grobes was employed as a cemetery worker and supervisor for Har Zion Cemetery in Collingdale for 25 years.

He previously worked at Fair Acres as an orderly for 10 years.

Mr. Grobes was a member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Glenolden.

As a young man, he was a volunteer firefighter at Goodwill Fire Company.

He is survived by his wife, Grace Benson Grobes of Chester; two sons, Edward V. Grobes of Wilmington, Del., and Tyrone Grobes of Claymont, Del.; a daughter, Michele Bethrant of Norwood; two brothers, Joseph Grobes of Darby Township and Leroy Grobes of Glenolden; two sisters, Lois Hill of Lindenwold, N.J., and Julie Grobes of Yeadon; and six grandchildren.

His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Ebenezer A.M.E. Church, Cook and Academy avenues, Glenolden, where friends may call after 9 a.m.

Burial will be in Mount Lawn Cemetery, Hook Road, Darby Township.

Notes: Mr. Grobes was born 5/31/1939.
