Text of Obituary: Daniel W. Jefferis III, 86, of Elizabethtown, Pa., a former Lima resident, died Oct. 10 at the Masonic Homes, where he resided.

Born in Wilmington, Del., Mr. Jefferis lived at the Masonic Homes since January.

Mr. Jefferis was an electrician for the Sun Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co. in Chester for 35 years, retiring in 1970.

He was a member of the Lucius H. Scott Lodge 352 F&AM in Chester, the Goodwill Fire Co. 2 in Chester, and the Brookhaven Stamp Club, Parkside Senior Cirizens and Parkside United Methodist Church.

He was a Boy Scout leader in Chester and coached little league and teener baseball.

He was a member of the Delaware County Sports Hall of Fame.

Mr. Jefferis was the husband of Alice Wheatley Jefferis, who died in 1988 and the son of the late Daniel W. Jefferis and Anna McKinner Jefferis.

He is survived by a son, Daniel W. Jefferis IV of Wilmington and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Lima United Methodist Church, 209 N. Middletown Road, Middletown. Burial will be in Chester Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima United Methodist Church, Box 158, Lima, PA 19037.
