Text of Obituary: 

Robert L. Ogden Sr., 64, of Aston, a retired Hardware & Supply Co. manager, died June 28 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

Born in Middletown, Mr. Ogden was raised in Chester and resided at his latest address in Aston for the last 20 years.

Mr. Ogden was an operation manager at Hardware & Supply Co. in Chester for 39 years. After that, he was a salesman for Galey Industrial Supply Co. for five years, retiring in 1994.

He was a former fire chief of the Chester Fire Co. and was a member of the Moyamensing Hook & Ladder Co. for many years. He was a former assistant county fire marshal.

Mr. Ogden was a member of the Chester Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Hicken Ogden,; a son, Robert L. Ogden Jr. of Downingtown; two daughters, Karen L. McCourt of Upland and Linda M. Todd of Aston; a brother, Lewis A. Ogden Jr. of Bethel; five sisters, Doris McPherson of Millsboro, Del., Ralmina Moser of Deepwater, N.J., Louise Gladhill of Pennsville, N.J., Marion Russo of Exton and Martha Clark of Townsend, Del.; and six grandchildren.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the Robert Moreland Funeral Home, 9th and Main streets, Trainer. Burial will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Lower Chichester. Calling hours are from 12:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Masonic services will be 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
