"Attached is an edited Wave File that was converted to MP3 of the ferry crossing narrative I made on Monday, January 28, 1974, a few days before the ferry ceased operation. I cut the file to 2 minutes and 50 seconds which is a bit less than half the time of the actual crossing. I sent you the two slides where the narrative refers to our passing the Bridgeport in the middle of the river.

I made the recording from the Ferry “Chester” which was operating along with the “Bridgeport”. The Delaware was docked in Chester being out of service at the time and not at a ferry slip. There were three boats and two slips at both terminals. It was later in the afternoon on a dreary winter day but not too cold for January."

These two pictures were made from Ektachrome slides of the ferry “Bridgeport” in midstream on January 28, 1974 –just a few days before service terminated. Overhead you can see the yet to be opened John Barry Bridge as there are no vehicles on it. To the left is a Gulf oil tanker.
